Washing your uniform is now more important than ever!
Due to the emergence of COVID-19 this year, everyone has had to make a concerted effort to improve their cleanliness. Whether this is showering more, washing hands and using antibacterial get more often, or not touching your face and eyes as much, especially after touching something in public. But your work uniform is just as important now.
The NHS guidelines for washing uniforms at home are:
- Minimum temperature of 60 degrees
- Make sure the cycle is longer than 10 minutes
- Store attire separately from other clothing items
- Wash after every use
- Always use detergent, heat alone is not enough
This may have only been guidance for NHS, but since the Prime Minister’s press speech on 10th May, more workers in certain industries that aren’t considered key workers have been encouraged to go back to work. So, it would be wise for people to follow this advice to prevent the spread of bacteria and infection as much as possible, and keep people safe.
For example, if you work in the construction sector and wear a branded attire it’s more likely you’re going to incur an increase in costs for washing your uniform more often at higher temperatures, which means you’re using more energy to wash it too.
